1. XAT 2027 Registration — Important Dates
Table 1 — XAT 2027 Registration Timeline
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration Opens | 15th July 2026 |
| Registration Closes | 6th December 2026 |
| Admit Card Download | 20th December 2026 (Tentative) |
| XAT 2027 Exam Date | 3rd January 2027, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM |
⚠ Register Early — XLRI Has Tied Some Benefits to Early Registration
Registering closer to the opening date rather than the closing date isn’t just about avoiding last-minute server load. XLRI has in the past linked certain conveniences — such as a better shot at your preferred test city — to earlier registration. Don’t treat the ~5-month window as a reason to delay; treat it as room to prepare your documents properly and register without rushing.
2. Documents Required for the XAT 2027 Application Form
Keep scanned/digital copies of the following ready before you start the form — switching tabs mid-registration to hunt for a mark sheet is the easiest way to make an error you won’t be able to fix later.
- Active email ID and mobile number — used for your XAT ID, OTP verification, and all further communication from XLRI.
- Class 10 mark sheet — your name here is the reference XLRI will match everything else against.
- Class 12 mark sheet
- Graduation mark sheet / provisional certificate — final-year students can enter provisional or expected details.
- Date of birth proof
- Address proof
- Aadhaar card
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/PwD, if applicable)
- Work experience details (if any) — employer name, designation, and start/end dates for each post-graduation role.
- Recent passport-size photograph — colour, white background, not older than 6 months, head and shoulders clearly visible.
- Signature on white paper — signed in black ink, by the applicant only.
3. Photograph & Signature Specifications
Table 2 — Upload Specifications
| Document | Dimension | Format | Max Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | 30mm x 45mm | .jpg or .jpeg | Within 1MB (aim for ~80KB) |
| Signature | 30mm x 45mm | .jpg or .jpeg | Within 1MB (aim for ~20–50KB) |
- Photograph: Recent, colour, passport-size. Look straight at the camera with a relaxed expression. If shot on a sunny day, keep the sun behind you or move to shade to avoid harsh shadows and squinting. If using flash, check for red-eye. If you wear glasses, make sure there’s no reflection and your eyes are clearly visible. Caps, hats, and dark glasses are not acceptable — religious headwear is allowed but must not cover your face.
- Signature: Sign on plain white paper using a black ink pen. Only the applicant may sign — not a parent, sibling, or anyone else. This exact signature will appear on your admit card and attendance sheet; a mismatch on exam day can lead to disqualification.
- Scanning settings: Set scanner resolution to a minimum of 200 dpi, colour mode to True Colour, then crop the image to the edge of the photograph/signature before uploading. If your file exceeds the size limit, adjust DPI or use MS Paint/Office Picture Manager’s crop-and-resize tools rather than uploading an unedited file.
⚠ A Signature Mismatch on Exam Day Can Disqualify You
XLRI explicitly checks that the signature you provide at the exam centre and on the attendance sheet matches your uploaded signature. Sign consistently — the same way, every time — from your application form through to your admit card and exam-day paperwork.
4. How to Fill the XAT 2027 Application Form — Step by Step
Part A — Register for a New Account
- Step 1. Visit xatonline.in and click on “New Candidate Registration.”
- Step 2. Enter your name, email ID, and phone number, and create a password. Click Submit.
- Step 3. You’ll receive your XAT ID and password via email — this is your login for every future visit to the portal, including admit card download and result checking.
Part B — Fill Out the Application Form
- Step 4. Log in with your XAT ID and password, then begin the form. Choose your preferred exam centre(s) and citizenship status (Indian / Foreign / NRI).
- Step 5. Select your XLRI programme preference — Business Management (BM), Human Resource Management (HRM), or the General Management Programme (GMP) — or skip this step entirely if you’re not interested in an XLRI programme.
- Step 6. Enter personal details: full name, date of birth, gender, father’s name, mother’s name, category, and phone number. These must match your Class 10 certificate exactly — any alteration found later can lead to disqualification.
- Step 7. Enter your academic qualifications starting from Class 10 through to your highest qualification.
- Step 8. Enter work experience details, starting from your most recent role, if applicable. Remember: only post-graduation experience counts.
- Step 9. Select your XAT test city preferences — up to 6 cities, ranked by preference. Choose ones closer to home, but remember final allotment authority rests with XLRI.
- Step 10. Upload your scanned photograph and signature as per the specifications in Section 3.
- Step 11. Click “Preview” and review the entire form carefully — every field, not just the ones you filled in last.
Part C — Pay and Submit
- Step 12. Proceed to the “Payment” tab and pay via debit/credit card, net banking, IMPS, cash card, or mobile wallet.
- Step 13. Wait for the server to confirm the transaction — do not press back or refresh mid-payment. On success, you’ll receive an e-Receipt; its absence means the payment failed.
- Step 14. Click “Submit.” You’ll receive a confirmation email from XLRI Jamshedpur once registration is complete. Download and print both the e-Receipt and the final application form for your records.
💡 “Save and Next” Exists So You Don’t Have to Rush
If you can’t complete the form in one sitting, use “Save and Next” to store your progress and come back later. Use that flexibility to actually re-check your entries in a second sitting with fresh eyes, rather than filling everything in one rushed session late at night. A five-minute break before you hit Preview catches more errors than any amount of careful typing under time pressure.
5. XAT 2027 Registration Fee & Payment
Table 3 — XAT 2027 Fee Structure
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| XAT Registration Fee (all candidates) | ₹2,300 |
| Additional fee per XLRI programme selected | ₹200 each |
| Indian candidates applying for PGDM (GM) / PGDM (LSCM) via GMAT/GRE | ₹2,600 |
| NRI / Foreign / PIO / OCI candidates applying via GMAT | ₹5,000 |
6. Common Mistakes to Avoid While Filling the Form
- Name mismatches. Your name, father’s name, and mother’s name must be spelt exactly as they appear on your certificates and identity proof — including initials, spacing, and suffixes. This is the single most common cause of downstream trouble.
- Submitting before previewing. Once you click Final Submit, no further edits are possible — not to your personal details, not to your programme selection, not to your test city preferences.
- Uploading uncropped or oversized images. Photos and signatures that don’t match the 30mm x 45mm dimension or exceed the size limit will either be rejected outright or distort during upload.
- Counting pre-graduation work experience. Only post-qualification, full-time work experience counts — internships or jobs held during your degree don’t belong in this section.
- Treating “Save and Next” as optional. Skipping it and trying to complete a long form in one uninterrupted session increases the odds of a rushed, unverified entry going through.
- Forgetting to select an XLRI programme (if you want one). If you’re interested in XLRI’s BM, HRM, or GMP programmes, you must select this within the same form — there’s no separate application for XLRI itself.
7. What Happens After You Submit the XAT 2027 Application
- Confirmation email. You’ll receive an email from XLRI Jamshedpur confirming successful registration once payment is verified.
- Admit card download. Expected around 20th December 2026 (tentative) — keep checking xatonline.in as this date approaches, since XLRI does not typically send a reminder for every update.
- Exam day, 3rd January 2027. Carry your admit card and a valid original photo ID to the test centre.
- Result and cutoffs. XAT 2027 results are expected in the third week of January 2027, with XLRI and associate-institute cutoffs following roughly a week later.
