Key Dates and Timeline for CAT 2025
Based on historical patterns, here are the tentative dates for CAT 2025:
- Official Notification Release: Expected by July 30, 2025.
- Registration Window: Anticipated to open on August 2, 2025, and close on September 21, 2025.
- Application Correction Period: Tentatively scheduled between September 25 and 28, 2025.
- Admit Card Release: Projected for November 7, 2025.
- Examination Date: Likely to be held on November 30, 2025. (Last Sunday of every November)
- Answer Key Publication: Expected by December 5, 2025.
- Result Declaration: Tentatively on December 21, 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates aspiring to appear for CAT 2025 should ensure they meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Educational Qualification: A bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA for General and NC-OBC candidates. For SC, ST, and PWD candidates, a minimum of 45% is required.
- Final Year Students: Individuals in the final year of their bachelor’s degree or awaiting results are also eligible to apply.
Registration Process
The application process for CAT 2025 is expected to be conducted online. Candidates should follow these steps:
- Visit the Official Website: Access the CAT 2025 portal at iimcat.ac.in.
- Create a User Profile: Register by providing a valid email address and mobile number.
- Fill in Personal and Academic Details: Complete the application form with accurate information.
- Upload Necessary Documents: This includes a recent passport-sized photograph, signature, and, if applicable, category and PwD certificates.
- Pay the Application Fee: The fee is ₹2,500 for General and NC-OBC candidates and ₹1,250 for SC, ST, and PWD candidates.
- Submit the Application: After reviewing all entries, submit the form and retain a copy of the confirmation for future reference.
Exam Pattern and Structure
CAT 2025 is expected to maintain the following structure:
- Mode of Examination: Computer-Based Test (CBT).
- Duration: 120 minutes, with 40 minutes allocated to each section.
- Sections:
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) – 24 questions
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) – 22 questions
- Quantitative Ability (QA) – 22 questions
- Number of Questions: A total of 68 questions.
- Marking Scheme: Each correct answer awards 3 marks, while each incorrect answer results in a deduction of 1 mark.

To excel in CAT 2025, candidates should consider the following strategies:

- Develop a Study Plan: Create a structured timetable that allocates sufficient time to each subject area.
