The New Application Rating System, Explained

Your Application Rating is built from five components, each contributing a maximum number of points toward your Raw Application Rating.

Work experience points follow their own scale: candidates with under 12 months get zero, those between 12 and 36 months earn a proportionate score that rises with each additional month, and anyone past 36 months gets the full 5 points. The calculation happens in three steps. First, your Raw Application Rating (the sum of all five components above) gets normalized against the average of the top 50 raw AR scores across the applicant pool. Second, that normalized AR is combined with your CAT percentile using the familiar 35/65 split to produce a Raw Composite Score. Third — and this is the new step — that Raw Composite Score is normalized again, this time within your assigned undergraduate discipline, using the average of the top 1% raw scores in that discipline (with a floor of at least 5 and a cap of 100 scores considered, to keep the calculation stable for very small or very large disciplines).

Has the Minimum CAT Cutoff Changed?

Final Selection: PI, AWT, and the Composite Score

Once you clear the shortlisting stage and attend the Analytical Writing Test and Personal Interview, your final admission decision uses a separate weighting altogether.
